Dr. Dhanota is a Sports Medicine Specialist and Founder/Director of the Penn Regenerative Sports Medicine & Orthobiologics Program, specializing in treating patients with a wide variety of sports medicine and musculoskeletal conditions.
He completed an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and for a short period of time worked on the first fiberoptic network in the United States as a Project Manager-Electrical Engineer. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Dhanota decided to change career paths and enter the field of medicine. He spent his first two years of medical school in Europe, followed by two years of medical education at the hospitals of the Weill Medical College at Cornell University. He then returned to Southern California to complete his post-graduate medical education and residency training at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA-Kaiser Foundation Hospital Residency Program where he also served as elected Chief Resident. During his post-graduate medical education, he earned numerous awards including the coveted Resident Research award two years in a row for his work in the field of Sports Medicine. Dr. Dhanota then completed a fellowship in Adult & Pediatric Sports Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia-University of Pennsylvania Sports Medicine Fellowship Program.
Serving as Director of the Regenerative Sports Medicine & Orthobiologics Program at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Dhanota has developed cutting-edge cell-based treatment protocols for musculoskeletal injuries. His extensive experience treating patients and athletes of all ages, including NCAA Division I and professional athletes, has earned him the prestigious honor of being named a Top Doctor in Sports Medicine. He is currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer-Head Team Physician for the Philadelphia Eagles as well as the Head Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician for the Philadelphia 76ers. In the past he has also served as a Team Physician with the Philadelphia Flyers (NHL) and the University of Pennsylvania's Men's Basketball Team. Dr. Dhanota is currently an Associate Professor at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and Founding Chief of the Divison of Primary Care Sports Medicine.
