Dr. Modiano is a medical oncologist and hematologist with a special interest in breast, lung, and gastrointestinal malignancies, and clinical trials.
During his tenure at the University of Arizona, Dr. Modiano was the director of the gastro-intestinal oncology program, as well as the minority cancer control program.
Dr. Modiano is Director of Research for Arizona Oncology Associates and serves as Medical Director of Arizona Clinical Research Center. He is past chief of the Division of Hematology and Oncology and past president of Medical Staff at Carondelet St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson. He has also served as president of Arizona Clinical Oncology Society and as past president of Arizona Oncology Associates, HOP Division.
He was appointed as a commissioner to the Arizona Biomedical Research Commission by Governor Napolitano in 2006.
Dr. Modiano has published many peer-reviewed articles and has made multiple presentations at national and international meetings. He has received numerous research and community service awards, including the Surgeon General Certificate of Merit.
