Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
During my internal medicine training, I decided that I wanted to do a specialty and Gastroenterology
was different. Patients were of any age, including treating kids. You could easily diagnose and cure
many patients. Endoscopy procedures were in their infancy when I trained, and were exciting
Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?
I have always had a major interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. I was an investigator
in the Accent 1 studies of Remicade and have a Remicade Infusion center in my office.

Undergrad at University of Texas Austin,

Residency at Emory University, Atlanta GA.

What certifications do you hold?
Board Certified in Internal Medicine
What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
I like to play golf, scuba dive and fish. My wife is a serious fitness buff. Our world revolves
around our daughter, who wants to be a vet. We foster dogs, cats, and even a duckling.
Our pets, a dog, 2 cats, a chinchilla, 2 parakeets, and a sun conure keep us busy at home.
Do you have any special honors or recognitions in your medical career that you would like to share?
Clinical Researcher of the year 2006 by The Gulf Coast Chapter of the Crohn’s and
Colitis Foundation. Served as Co Chairman of the Chapter in 2007-8.
