It's important to recognize that recovery doesn't end when patients are discharged from the hospital. When patients go home or to a rehab facility, they are often unable to fully care for themselves. Instead, they must rely on their family and/or support systems. I strive to make sure that family members and caretakers understand discharge instructions too. This gives them the information they need to help our patients during their post-surgery recovery period.
It is incredibly rewarding to help our patients through their entire cardiac surgery journey. I am grateful to work with a wonderful team that allows me to make a difference in our patients' lives.

Every day, I strive to provide the best possible care for our patients. As a cardiac surgery PA, I rotate between many different roles. I might assist in the operating room one day, take care of patients in the intensive care unit or the step-down units the next day, and answer phone calls from patients after they are discharged later that week. This variety is not only enjoyable.
