ServicesAcupuncture Service Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that has been practiced for over three thousand years. It’s based on the promise that energy (called “chi”), flows through and around your body along pathways called meridians. When something blocks or unbalances in one’s body, illness would occur. Acupuncture is a technique to unblock “chi” and help it flow back into balance. According to TCM theory, there are over 1000 acupuncture points on the body, each lying on an invisible energy channel, or “meridian.” Each meridian is associated with a different organ system. Acupuncturists insert hair-thin needles to specific acupuncture points throughout the body to restore the flow of qi, balance the body’s energy, stimulate healing, and promote relaxation. Acupuncture needles are extremely thin, about the thickness of a human hair. The needles are sterile, individually packaged and disposable. The treatment is safe, non-invasive, and painless when practiced by well-trained acupuncturists. Many patients say that they experience a deep state of relaxation and renewal during and after an acupuncture treatment. When acupuncture is used in conjunction with western medicine, patients may find significant improvement in managing many conditions. In 2003 the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) released a report called “Acupuncture: Review and Analysis of Reports on Controlled Clinical Trials.”. The report lists a wide variety of diseases or disorders for which acupuncture treatment has been effective.
