Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: Growing up I always wanted to be a nurse. When I was a little girl, I use to dress up my cat and pretend he was sick. I grew up watching my grandmother care for both her mother, and then her sister. I was taught from a very young age to help others around me and to be compassionate. What I want my patients to know about me: I started off my nursing career as an LPN, then I went back to school to became an RN in 2000. I have worked in Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, and NICU. I was a travel nurse for a couple of years working in Hawaii. When I came back home I was inspired by several colleagues to become a nurse practitioner.
