M. Catalina Merrick, DO, completed her medical degree at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by her residency in internal medicine at the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. She also completed an infectious disease fellowship at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. "I enjoyed talking to patients and establishing care that created long-lasting relationships, so internal medicine seemed to be a perfect fit. In residency, I found infectious diseases to be not only interesting, but a lot like primary care. To me, infectious diseases is a great specialty because treatment can really impact patients in their day-to-day lives."Building good rapport and long-term relationships with patients is the most rewarding part of practicing medicine to Dr. Merrick. At Springfield Clinic, she plans to take care of patients with HIV, hepatitis C (also those co-infected with HIV and hepatitis), urinary tract infections, respiratory infections and bacterial, viral and fungal infections. She will see patients both in her office at Springfield Clinic 1st - 900 Building and at the hospital.Top 10% Patient ExperienceThis provider ranks in the top 10% nationally in patient experience, based on scores from the "Care Provider Overall" question on surveys completed with Press Ganey.
