I became a gynecologic oncologist because I wanted to serve as a guide and companion on my patients’ journey from diagnosis to wellness. A diagnosis of cancer leaves patients with feelings of fear and a loss of control over their lives. I strive to provide women and their families with the information they need to make informed decisions about their care. I am honest about what treatment options we have and what options we do not have and why. We have conversations about how my patients want to integrate their values and priorities into their therapy. The best therapeutic relationship between a patient and her physician comes from mutual trust, respect, and honest dialogue. I cherish the opportunity to get to know my patients and their families. It’s a privilege and honor to see my patients persevere and thrive. I find great satisfaction knowing I can make their journey easier and that they don’t have to face the tough decisions alone. It is one of life’s greatest rewards to watch my patients overcome their fears and feel a sense of triumph in being able to get back to their lives.
