Dr. Paul received his undergraduate education from Yale University. He then earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed both his General Surgery residency and Thoracic Surgery fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate. He has also completed a Master of Public Health from Columbia University.
Dr. Paul s research interests include improving health care delivery and outcomes through the use of technology. He has been the principal investigator of several clinical trials as well as the recipient of grants for his research. Dr. Paul has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in thoracic surgery. Dr. Paul has been rated as one of New York Magazine's Best Doctors and is a member of various prestigious medical societies including the American College of Surgeons, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and American Association for Thoracic Surgeons.
