Dr John Edwards treats patients with kidney disease, specializing in acute and chronic kidney injuries, fluid and electrolyte disorders, kidney stones, and hypertension. His research is focused on the transport of chloride by kidney cells and the role of this process in progression of chronic kidney disease. Dr Edwards is a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology, at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He is the director of the division. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Society of Nephrology and the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Dr Edwards enjoys music and plays the cello in the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra.
