Ryan F. Moore, MD is a member of Summit Health's General Surgery team. Dr. Moore treats patients of all ages with diseases and problems of the abdomen, small intestine, colon, rectum and anorectal region. He evaluates and performs surgery for issues relating to the gastrointestinal tract and treats colon and rectal cancer as well as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), constipation, incontinence, rectal prolapse, hemorrhoids, fissures, fistulas, and abscesses. He performs colonoscopy for cancer screening and for treatment surveillance. Dr. Moore performs his procedures in a variety of medical settings, including hospital, in-office, and surgery or endoscopy centers. Additionally, he has training and expertise in laparoscopic and robotic surgeries, two minimally invasive procedures that use small incisions resulting in less pain and recovery time.
Dr. Moore chose a career in health care to help guide people through their toughest times. He says, “Caring for people at all stages of illness, from treatment through recovery, is incredibly rewarding.” He adds, “Leading patients to an improved state of health and better quality of life requires open and honest conversation, education, patience, availability, and compassion – all things I strive to provide.”
Dr. Moore grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs and completed his undergraduate studies at Boston College where he double majored in biology and theology. He returned to Philadelphia for medical school and stayed for residency training in general surgery at Temple University Hospital and completed fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. While in surgical residency, Dr. Moore was awarded the Robert D. Harwick, MD Resident Research Award.
Dr. Moore has presented research at national meetings including the annual symposium for the American College of Surgeons. He has also authored a book chapter in Shackelford’s Surgery of the Alimentary Tract.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Moore enjoys watching and playing sports, cooking, traveling, and spending time with his wife and two children.
