Originally from Hickory, North Carolina, she attended N.C. State University in Raleigh, earning a bachelor’s degree with a major in human biology before obtaining her medical degree at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honors Medical Society. She then completed her neurosurgery residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City before returning to the Southeast to finish her training at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, with a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship.
Dr. Carter strives to help her patients get back to their regular activities as quickly and safely as possible. In her free time, she likes to build Legos, play video games, watch college football, and spend time around Greenville with her husband and son.

Lacey Carter, MD, is a fellowship-trained pediatric neurosurgeon specializing in hydrocephalus, spina bifida, craniosynostosis, Chiari malformations, pediatric neurotrauma, and other congenital abnormalities of the brain and spinal cord.
