Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I have been interested in medicine and education for as long as I can remember. I majored in elementary education in college and minored in biology. I worked as a student athletic trainer in college and after graduating college, I taught 4th grade in Baltimore County. I missed medicine when I was teaching and many of my students had various medical conditions, so I decided to apply to PA school. I teach every day, it is just in a different way. I have worked in both emergency medicine and family practice. I enjoy working in areas of medicine where I am able to care for patients of various age groups for a multitude of reasons.
