Kelly Mowrey is a Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner with Neurosurgery One, specializing in the acute, inpatient management of patients with neurosurgical conditions. Before joining Neurosurgery One, Kelly worked in pulmonary medicine at National Jewish Health for 14 years. In this role, Kelly managed acute and chronic pulmonary conditions for patients with traumatic brain and spinal cord injury at the world-renowned Craig Hospital. Additionally, she managed chronic respiratory failure in patients with ALS at the Colorado Neurological Institute and was a spinal cord injury nurse practitioner and registered nurse at Craig Hospital.
Kelly has co-authored a chapter on the nursing management of spinal cord injured patients in a prominent Neurotrauma textbook and published an article regarding evaluating acute abdomen in a spinal cord injured patient in a neuroscience nursing journal. Kelly graduated with high honors from the University of Colorado School of Nursing in 2005 with a Master’s degree in nursing and an Adult Nurse Practitioner degree. Her nurse practitioner training included a 3 month intensive practicum in Neurosurgery at Denver Health Medical Center.
Kelly is passionate about the role of nutrition, specifically the use of a whole food/plant-based diet, in the prevention and treatment of disease.
