Marc Goldstein
Dr. Marc Goldstein is a board-certified urologic surgeon specializing in male infertility. He completed the general surgery portion of his residency at Columbia Presbyterian/ The Presbyterian Hospital and urology at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in New York. After serving as Assistant Professor of Urology and Assistant Attending Surgeon at SUNY Downstate, Dr. Goldstein completed a 2 year fellowship at the Population Council’s Center for Biomedical research at The Rockefeller University. He joined Weill Cornell Medicine in 1982, where he soon became Director of the Male Reproductive Medicine and Microsurgery Unit. Currently, Dr. Goldstein serves as Surgeon-in-Chief of Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Goldstein introduced the no-scalpel vasectomy to the Western world and has performed over 4,000 procedures with the lowest complication and failure rate in peer-reviewed literature; the no-scalpel procedure has since been found to be far more effective and safer than female sterilization. Additionally, Dr. Goldstein pioneered the microsurgical repair of varicoceles, the most common cause of male infertility, performing over 5,000 with the lowest complication and failure rates reported in the peer-reviewed literature. Dr. Goldstein has also developed several microsurgical techniques for the safest and most effective repair of common scrotal disorders (i.e., hydrocele, spermatocele and scrotal cysts) as well as a microsurgically assisted technique for inguinal hernia repair, eliminating the risk of injury to the ducts and blood vessels of the testis and having the lowest failure rate in the peer-reviewed literature.Marc Goldstein, MD, DSc (hon), FACS is the Matthew P.
