Jiwon Kim, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Cardiovascular Division of the Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College where she is the Associate Director of the Adult Echocardiography Laboratory and co-directs the cardiac MRI program and advanced cardiac imaging fellowship. Dr. Kim has a documented track record of academic focus on pathogenesis of adverse cardiovascular remodeling and their associations with clinical outcomes, which is the focus of her NIH K23 award for which she studies right ventricular remodeling and its physiologic impact on exercise tolerance. She is also the recipient of an R01 award to examine tissue-based predictors of cardiopulmonary symptoms in COVID-19 survivors. In addition, she has served as a co-investigator on several R01 awards focused on LV remodeling and foundation sponsored studies for which she has helped to design and implement multicenter echocardiography and cardiac MRI imaging protocols. Dr. Kim completed residency in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School and fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, respectively Dr. Kim has received multiple intramural and extramural awards including the ASCI Young Physician Scientist Award.
