Dr. Anja Jokela is a Family Medicine physician at the University of Vermont Medical Center whose clinical focus includes obstetrics, comprehensive reproductive health, transgender and LGBTQ care, pediatrics, addiction medicine, and care of New Americans. She treats gender dysphoria, cardiovascular and metabolic conditions (diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity), gynecologic and reproductive issues, and depression/anxiety.
Dr. Jokela believes in collaborative decision-making with her patients while embracing complementary therapies and supporting healthy lifestyles. She practices a family-centered approach to prenatal care, delivery and child wellness.
Beyond her career in family medicine, Dr. Jokela is an assistant professor of the Larner College of Medicine. Her research interests include reproductive health, maternal-child health, transgender care, and anti-racism. She lives with her wife, child and chickens in Burlington.
