Dr Chugh directs the Center for Cardiac Arrest Prevention at the Smidt Heart Institute. The mission of the Center is to discover and implement novel clinical tools for prediction and prevention of sudden cardiac arrest, thereby reducing the burden of sudden cardiac death in the community. The Center is supported by research funding from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, the National Institutes of Health; and Cedars-Sinai. Dr Chugh initiated and continues to direct the Oregon Sudden Unexpected Death Study, a large, comprehensive assessment of sudden cardiac arrest in a community of 1 million residents founded in 2002.
