As the son of a physician, Dr. Fee grew up in a medical family where he had constant exposure to medicine and admired the work. He was especially drawn to the intellectual stimulation and the ability to help others.
Practicing as an Infectious Disease specialist since 1994, Dr. Fee chose this field due to the analytical nature and attention to detail it requires. He enjoys the wide breadth of illnesses he works with as it allows him to serve an important role as part of a patient’s health care team. He places the focus on the patient and aims to provide empathetic and personalized care. As Dr. Fee states it best, “I try to place myself in my patient’s shoes with the goal of getting them back to a productive and active life as soon as possible. Their happiness is what is important to me and I want to make sure I take the time to address their concerns and answer their questions.”
A native of Sioux City, Iowa, Dr. Fee received his medical degree with honors from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed his residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center and a fellowship in Infectious Disease at USC+LA County Medical Center.
Dr. Fee has served in several leadership roles at Hoag including Chair of Infection Control, Chair of the Department of Medicine, Member of the Hoag Board of the Directors, Chief Medical Information Officer, Chief of Staff, and Chief Clinical Officer.
Dr. Fee and his wife have two adult children and during his spare time, he enjoys studying genealogy, hiking, running, being outdoors, and traveling to new and interesting destinations.
