Argenis Herrera, M.D., is a board-certified thoracic surgeon at Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health.
Dr. Herrera specializes in general and oncologic thoracic surgery with an emphasis on minimally invasive procedures, including robotic, laparoscopic, thoracoscopic and endoscopic surgery. Dr. Herrera has a special interest in benign and malignant esophageal diseases of the lung and esophagus.
Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute in 2022, Dr. Herrera served as the medical director of thoracic oncology and assistant professor in the department of surgery at the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Herrera’s work has been published in the World Journal of Emergency Medicine, Thoracic Surgery Clinics and the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
Dr. Herrera completed his general surgery residency at Saint Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN, and a cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). He also completed a robotic thoracic oncologic surgery fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center.

A passionate soccer fan. Dr. Herrera also enjoys baseball and basketball and baseball. He also likes spending time with family, walking and riding his bike by the beach, traveling to other countries to explore their culture and listening to music of many different genre — from salsa to rock.
