Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I have always wanted to be a nurse, from at least kindergarten, where I ran around wearing a Dr Kildare white tunic top! I started my career as an LPN, became a diploma RN, earned a master's degree in nursing and went on to become a nurse practitioner. As you can see, education is extremely important to me. With each level of education, I was able to provide a higher level of care to my patients. There was no specific event that led me to nursing, it has just always been who I am. If I can help someone through a difficult time, or keep them healthy - physically, emotionally and/or psychologically - I feel as thought I have contributed something good to society.
