Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: There are several medical professionals in my family. We share a common trait-our love for helping others. I had no desire be become a CRNP until I worked in a crisis center. I went back to school to better serve the mental health population, which is often under served. CRNPs are nurturing, understanding, responsible, scientific educators. Nursing is about passion and a job of service. In psychiatry, we share other's most private and vulnerable moments and, in turn, often discover things about ourselves. I cannot see myself working with any other population. The brain is amazing! What I want my patients to know about me: Being a CRNP is not just a job. I take my role seriously.
