Dr. Rofaiel is a Transplant and Advanced Hepatobiliary Surgeon who joined the University of Utah School of Medicine in January of 2018. He joined the team with multiple years of experience in solid organ transplantation. Before joining the University of Utah, Dr. Rofaiel started and managed kidney, liver and pancreas transplant programs over the course of five years. He also performed many complex oncologic procedures for solid intrabdominal and hepatobiliary tumors. Employing the latest in surgical technology, robotics in particular, Dr. Rofaiel brings minimally invasive techniques to both transplant and cancer surgery. Dr. Rofaiel received his Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery degree from Cairo University in 2001. He also spent several years conducting research at Duke University. He completed his General Surgery Residency at the Cleveland Clinic where he received world class training in general and advanced subspecialty surgery. Dr. Rofaiel completed Adult and Pediatric Multiorgan Transplant training at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. In this institution, he completed training to perform complex adult and pediatric organ transplants in one of the busiest programs in the nation.The focus of our practice is to provide patient centered and compassionate care while employing the latest in surgical innovation and data-driven care.
