Dr. Griffin grew up in England and moved to the United States in 1991. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Florida State University and took time off during and after college to do volunteer work, teaching in both Spain and Honduras. She continued to pursue overseas outreach opportunities in medical school at the University of Florida where she was a founding team member for a new overseas outreach partnership with a small hospital in Cusco, Peru. The partnership, which is ongoing, allows students early in their medical training to see the immense impact of poverty and lack of healthcare access on the population and the epidemiologic studies of the students helps inform the local healthcare environment. These experiences fostered an interest in global health as well as the disparity in healthcare delivery.During Medical School she fell in love with surgery in general and Vascular Surgery in particular. Her training continued at the University of Florida where she completed her residency in General Surgery. She went on to do a Vascular Surgery fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where her training included innovative endovascular approaches to the treatment of complex aortic disease, as well as open and endovascular techniques for limb salvage.Dr. Griffin joins the University of Utah Department of Surgery and Division of Vascular Surgery with an interest in the entire spectrum of vascular pathology and a special interest in complex endovascular solutions to aortic disease.
