Dr. Sandweiss received his medical degree from UCLA in 1996 and completed his pediatric residency at the University of Washington in 1999. After completing his training, he joined the Navajo Area Indian Health Service and practice rural pediatrics in northeastern Arizona. During much of his time there, he was the Chief of Pediatrics. Following his 5 years in the IHS, Dr. Sandweiss was a pediatric hospitalist in Pittsburgh, PA, after which he joined the University of Utah Department of Pediatrics and the Division of Emergency Medicine. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Utah, and the Medical Director of the Pediatric Emergency Department’s Rapid Treatment Unit. His specific clinical interests are pediatric emergency care, observation care, and hospital medicine. Dr. Sandweiss has research interests in pediatric observation medicine care process models and is currently studying bronchiolitis and home oxygen therapy.
