Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: Genetic counseling has allowed me to marry my passions for education and for biology. I strive to explain complex genetic concepts in a way that all will understand and will be able to make informed decisions when considering genetic testing in their healthcare. For those individuals facing a genetic diagnosis for themselves or for their pregnancy, I strive to support and empower the patient by providing resources, by serving as their advocate, and by lending a listening ear. I specifically have chosen to pursue preconception and prenatal genetic counseling as I want to be able to stand with patients as they navigate uncertain terrain in pursuits of expanding their family.
