While I've had experience in emergency medicine, pediatrics, surgery and psychiatry, family medicine is where I feel most at home. I love the variety family medicine provides, as well as being personal connections with patients and their families. I also value preventive medicine. Throughout my career, I've seen many people suffering from preventable ailments like diabetes, kidney failure and heart disease, as well as those with cancers found too late; that drives me to encourage preventive care including routine screenings. Family medicine allows me to look at the whole person and come up with health solutions that are holistic, reasonable and achievable.
Asking questions is something I want each of my patients to feel comfortable doing. Patients need information to be involved in their care so we can make decisions together. I strive to be down-to-earth and easy to talk to so nobody is afraid or intimidated while getting care.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my white lab mix, Zoey, who I adopted all the way from Turkey! The crazy antics of Shiloh, my cat, make me laugh every day. My parents, sister and nephew all live in Asheville, so I visit them whenever I can. I also enjoy spending time with my godson, reading, hiking, painting, gardening, and learning about government and world events.

When I was young, I hated needles and going to the doctor. I never considered a medical career an option - until my senior year of high school when I took an anatomy class and loved it. Learning about the human body and the way all its systems work together fascinated me. Even after that, it took me a few years to find my way to medicine; after high school, I considered photography, art, flying planes, becoming a veterinarian and even the military as possible career paths. Nothing felt right, though, until I learned about the physician assistant profession.
