About
Ore-Ofe Adesina
Ore-Ofe O. Adesina, MD, is an associate professor of ophthalmology and neurology at the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He also serves as the medical director and director of neuro-ophthalmology for the Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at McGovern Medical School.
He is a board-certified, ophthalmology-trained, neuro-ophthalmologist who evaluates and treats patients with vision problems related to the nervous system. As a surgical neuro-ophthalmologist, what sets his practice apart is that, in addition to the medical care of neuro-ophthalmic patients, he also performs functional oculoplastics and orbital surgeries in both inpatient and outpatient settings as well as adult strabismus surgery.
He works in collaboration with multiple specialists including neurosurgeons, neurologists, ear, nose, and throat specialists, endocrinologists, and neuroradiologists to provide the best care to patients being treated after stroke, tumors, optic neuritis, ischemic optic neuropathy, pseudotumor cerebri/idiopathic intracranial hypertension, thyroid-related eye disease, and other related conditions.
Adesina is known for his exceptional patient interaction, taking the time to diagnose complicated conditions, and helping individuals understand their treatment options. He often sees patients who have seen several specialists and whose conditions require additional expert evaluation.
Adesina graduated from medical school at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in 2008. He completed his residency in 2012 at the University of Oklahoma’s Dean McGee Eye Institute. He then received his fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Utah Moran Eye Center in 2013 with an additional preceptorship in oculoplastics and orbital surgery.
His professional memberships include the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Houston Ophthalmological Society, and the Texas Ophthalmological Association. His research interests are in imaging and treatment of patients with optic nerve and orbital disorders.
He speaks English and conversational Spanish.
In his spare time, Adesina enjoys spending time with his family, watching movies, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and playing sports.
