In this week's episode of Your Best Life, Karl interviews T. Harv Eker, who is a financial evangelist and internationally recognized expert on mindset. Harv is best known for his New York Times bestselling book, Secrets of a Millionaire Mind. His programs have been credited with helping thousands of people reverse bad money habits and turning financial hardships into financial security. During the show, Harv explains how our financial health is a byproduct of how we think and feel about money, ourselves, and our personal responsibility to our financial life.

Main Questions Asked:

  • Share about your life and what made this your passion and mission.
  • What were the 12 businesses you dabbled in before making it all work?
  • How somebody can start to reframe their thinking and drive the right beliefs that cause them to take the actions that get results?
  • What action steps can people take to get the skills?

Key Lessons Learned:

“Money won't solve all your problems but at least you can arrive at your problems in style." Tony Robbins.

Thoughts and Early Programming

  • Your thoughts lead to your feelings, which led to your actions, which lead to your results.
  • Everyone is the root of their own success, mediocrity, or failure.
  • Thoughts create actions, and actions create results.
  • Thoughts are created by early programming from childhood.

Financial Blueprint

  • Financial blueprints or financial set points are ingrained in our subconscious mind and will determine our entire financial lives. This is not only with regards to income and net worth but also how we experience money.
  • Every generation has a different financial blueprint based around the following:
  • Verbal programming:What did you hear around money, success, wealth, and rich people?
  • Modeling:What did you see around money, success, wealth, and rich people?
  • Specific incidents:What did you experience around money, success, wealth, and rich people?

Rich vs Freedom

  • Not everyone wants to be wealthy, but all people want financial freedom.
  • 'Comfortable' is a killer word to success as it doesn't make you free or rich.
  • The big misconception is that you have to be rich in order to be free. Harv advises to get free then rich.
  • Everyone can be financially free as long as you are making a semi-decent income.
  • The definition of financial freedom is living a lifestyle you choose to live without having to rely on anyone else for money.
  • If you want to get free you have to manage your money well.

I attended a T. Harv Eker workshop many years ago and the principles taught that weekend were amazingly practical and useful. It wasn't "pie in the sky" type stuff, it contained thoughts, strategies, and action steps you could implement the minute you left the workshop. The take-away I remember from it had to do with your "relationship" with money. How much you have or don't have is due to your relationship with money. Just like if you're unhappy in your personal relationship you need to fix things about it in order to be happy, same goes for money. If you're unhappy with your money situation you need to fix your relationship with money. That workshop taught how to do that, it was great.

Great questions to ask oneself. We all have the answers inside if we stand still for a moment and listen.
