4 ounces Canadian bacon, diced
1 green onion, chopped
1 medium tomato, chopped
1/4 red bell pepper, roasted and chopped
1 1/2 tablespoons crushed pineapple, drained well
1 tablespoon fat-free honey Dijon salad dressing
1 can (10 ounces) whole-wheat bread dough, refrigerated or frozen
1/4 cup shredded mixed cheese
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 cup tomato sauce
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Spray a light coat of cooking spray onto a baking sheet.
In a large bowl, mix the Canadian bacon, onion, tomato, bell pepper, pineapple, and salad dressing, tossing well to coat the bacon, fruit, and vegetables with dressing.
Apply a thin coat of flour to a countertop. Divide the bread dough into four portions. Press each portion of dough into an oval using a rolling pin. Add the bacon mixture and 1/4 of the cheese to each portion of the pressed dough. Fold the dough over the filling, and pinch the edges together to close. Place the calzones onto the baking sheet, lightly coat with olive oil, and bake until golden brown (approximately 10 minutes).
While calzones bake, add the tomato sauce to a small saucepan, and warm over low-medium heat. After the baking is complete, serve the calzones immediately with warmed tomato sauce on the side.
