1 cup butter
2 cups dark brown sugar
½ cup corn syrup
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
5 quarts popped popcorn
Preheat an oven to 250°F.
Melt the butter in a medium sized pan over medium heat.
Add the brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt to the pan. While stirring constantly, bring the contents to a boil.
When boiling begins, allow contents to boil (without stirring) for approximately 5 minutes.
Remove the pan from heat. Add the baking soda, salt, and vanilla and mix well.
Place the popped popcorn into a large bowl. Pour the contents of the pan over the popcorn in a thin ribbon. Stir popcorn to coat well.
Transfer the popcorn into two shallow baking dishes and put in the preheated oven for one hour. Stir the popcorn every 15 minutes.
Remove the baking dishes from oven and allow popcorn to cool.
When cooled, break into pieces and serve.
