Ingredients

  • 5 medium-sized potatoes

  • 2 medium onions

  • 3/4 cup frozen peas

  • 1 jalapeño pepper

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup plain bread crumbs

  • 3 tablespoons canola oil

  • 4 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

Directions

  • Boil the potatoes in a container until fork-tender.

  • Heat the oil in a pan and sauté the onions and jalapeno until the onions turn golden brown.

  • Add the frozen peas and cook until soft.

  • Peel and mash the potatoes in a large bowl.

  • Add the bread crumbs, cilantro, and mixture from the pan to the bowl and mix well.

  • Divide the potato mixture to make 10 patties and pan-fry until golden brown.

  • Serve the pan fried patties (tikkis) with tamarind sauce and green chutney.
