5 medium-sized potatoes
2 medium onions
3/4 cup frozen peas
1 jalapeño pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
3 tablespoons canola oil
4 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
Boil the potatoes in a container until fork-tender.
Heat the oil in a pan and sauté the onions and jalapeno until the onions turn golden brown.
Add the frozen peas and cook until soft.
Peel and mash the potatoes in a large bowl.
Add the bread crumbs, cilantro, and mixture from the pan to the bowl and mix well.
Divide the potato mixture to make 10 patties and pan-fry until golden brown.
Serve the pan fried patties (tikkis) with tamarind sauce and green chutney.
