Ingredients

  • 1 cup oats

  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 cup dried cherries

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 tablespoons cherry jam

  • 1/4 cup 1 percent low-fat milk, plus more to taste

Directions

  • In a medium-sized saucepan, add the oats, cherries, salt, and water.

  • Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.

  • When boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for about 5 minutes, or until desired consistency.

  • Turn off the heat and remove the saucepan before adding the cherry jam and vanilla extract.

  • Serve in bowls and add milk to taste.
