2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
2 teaspoons dry sherry
2 teaspoons hoisin sauce
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon chili paste with garlic
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons peanut oil
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic
1 pound sirloin beef steak, thinly sliced across the grain
16 medium green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces
In a mixing bowl combine the soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch, dry sherry, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, and salt and mix until blended.
In a large frying pan, heat the peanut oil. Add the minced garlic, ginger, and slices of steak and sauté until the steak browns.
Add the green onions and sauté for an additional 30 seconds. Pour the sauce mixture into the pan and sauté for one minute or until the sauce appears to thicken.
