Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • 1 tablespoon sriracha hot sauce (or 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes)

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 2 cups raw almonds

  • 1 tablespoon sugar in the raw

  • Black pepper and salt, to taste

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  • Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Mix maple syrup, sriracha, and paprika in a small bowl, stirring to combine. Add the nuts, and toss to coat evenly. If desired, store the mixture in the refrigerator overnight to allow the nuts to marinate.

  • Transfer the nuts to the prepared baking sheet, spread to form a single layer. Bake for 15 minutes, remove from oven, then sprinkle with sugar, salt, and pepper. Allow the nuts to cool, then transfer to an airtight container. The nuts can be stored for up to a week.
