I think Dr. Mittman is a good doctor. He listens to you and helps you manage your condition the best he can. You always have to wait a long to see him but on the flip side he is always willing to fit you in when you need to see him. However, he gets very aggravated with his staff and it can be very uncomfortable to see/hear the way they interact with each other.

Overall I do like having my allergy shots in his office because you are in and out rather quickly and don't need an appointment.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID

I visited Dr. Mittman as a new patient and got nothing from the visit.

It was immediately clear that the focus of his office was all about submitting insurance claims, not helping his patients.

His office staff is not only rude to each other but to patients too. It was awkward listening to them speaking to each other with no respect.

My total visit lasted over 4 hours. His office staff overbooks patient visits so it takes hours and hours to see Dr. Mittman and get the results.

After I received my allergy test results, Dr. Mittman told me what I was allergic to but did not review an action plan. Upon further research, the allergy tests that he conducts are not accurate and often misleading.

He recommended I take allergy shots, but he failed to explain they the shots would only help with my seasonal allergies, not food allergies, which was my main concern.

When I left his office I was not provided a detailed copy of my results. So I went back the next day and ended up waiting another 3 hours just for a copy.

Dr. Mittman and his office are a joke. I regret going to him and would not recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Mittman is a wonderful old fashioned doctor who takes the time to listen and talk. He helps above and beyond the call of duty. His warmth, intelligence and understanding are deeply comforting.

This is the kind of doctor everyone wants, but hardly ever finds

Dr. Mittman overprescribes medications that were not effective to my needs. I spent hundreds of dollars on prescriptions that could have been easily purchase over the counter. What made things worst, none of the medication he prescribed to me did not help me. Beware, you have been warned.

They gave me sufficient information to make a decision about my treatment plan. Their primary concern is what's best for me, and they only give me the advice that would benefit me the most. I am always so impressed with how quickly my calls are answered here. I am never put on hold for a long time and love knowing that if I have a quick question I won't have to wait a half hour through terrible music to get it answered. The restrooms at this provider's office were clean and well-maintained. You could tell that they cleaned them regularly. They have a very good professional reputation. I know that I'm under the care of an expert.

Dr. Mittman is one of the best doctors I have ever been to. He is really friendly and very good at what he does. You can tell he really cares about helping you and trying to get to the bottom of your allergy issues. If you are looking for an allergist, this is the one you want to see.

I have the pleasure of knowing Dr. Robert Mittman personally. His wife and my sister, both attorneys, are friends and colleagues. "Dr Bob" devised a compound nasal spray that I could that eliminated my need for decongestants, which I previous HAD to take when bad allergy weather struck; I have hypertension and I didn't need any meds that raise my blood pressure. This was truly what the doctors (my cardiologist, my brother and Dr. Mittman ordered.) — and I cannot fail to mention that Dr. Mittman saved my life! Yes, he was getting a weird blood-pressure signature, and ended up using every BP cuff in the office and his Physicians' Assistants take my BP yet again. Dr. Mittman: reminded me, "You're brother's a cardiologist? Can you get him on the phone?" I did and they spoke. He then referred me to one of Long Island's finest cardiologists. I could have had merely Aortic Insufficiency, but, no, I hit the big time with an Ascending Aortic Aneursym that, after the diet settled, every doc I knew, including my best pal who is an anesthesiologist and seen these procedures go South too often to suite him, told me I shouldn't have been still among the living with an aneurysm measuring 8.5cm. Not too long after that, Dr. Mittman kept my Mom, in her 70s, out of the hospital ("good place to get sick" as my brother and his colleagues believe emphatically) by treating her pneumonia with daily infusions in his office of the appropriate mix of antibiotics and perhaps other meds. These sessions took about three hours and continued for five days. My Mom beat the pneumonia and she's alive at kicking at 79! Dr. Mittman's knowledge of pharmacology is truly impressive; his Dad was a pharmacist who owned a neighborhood drug store and obviously encouraged his questions. In his specialty, Dr. Mittman is without peer; I've heard his praises for treatment asthma and allergies every time I'm in his waiting room. He's also a physician with a heart. As a college professor of English, I knew I needed Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B vaccines, but my insurance covered Hep B — if that.. I spoke to Dr. Mittman and he said he'd give me the TwinRix series of vaccines for Hep A and B. When I told him my insurance company might not reimburse him, he said, "You're a long-time patient and you're right, you should have Hep A and B. If the insurance company pays, they pay; if not don't worry about it." That was $900 that I didn't have to worry about, He really enjoys helping people and practicing medicine. Regarding of which staff members see you first, you're HIS patient. Sometimes there is a wait, just like sometimes my classes have more students who want to enroll than we have chairs. Dr. Mittman is well worth waiting for; if you want fast-food medicine (such as the Park Avenue shrink who diagnoses EVERY patient with a Bipolar Disorder of some sort and the menu is. Seroquel, Depakote, Xanax and Lunesta or Ambien for all comers!, think about the risks. We take a lot of powerful drugs these days and I much rather would have a doctor who takes an additional half hour dealing with another patient and then devotes his full-time and attention to me, rather than a doc who rushes the preceding patient through because "his 4:30 appointment is waiting". One professional always can tell when another professional is doing a good job or just going through the motions. Dr. Mittman does a good job!
