Dr. Nowak is one of the most competent professionals we've met in his field. Different services have been requested for various members of our family and he handles them all deftly. Also, he always makes sure we as parents understand about what the children are getting.

When we got vision insurance, I tried a local VSP provider w/ disastrous results. The local guy made glasses wrong both of the two times I had lenses made with them. This was unknown to me until the 2nd pair which were so bad, I went back to Dr. Nowak to try and figure out what was going on, his glasses have always worked fine. (In fact, I discovered I could see BETTER w/ ones he'd made almost three years earlier than either of the two recent VSP experiments!)
What he discovered by checking the lenses against their prescriptions, was that the VSP office didn't check what came back from their lab and they were both off, the 2nd pair much worse than the 1st which I'd used for over a year w/ a degree of annoyance. The 2nd pair I simply couldn't stand and the VSP office told me I'd get used to them, so I ran back to a trusted source. A 2nd issue is, it turns out, the VSP provider's prescription wasn't as accurate as what Dr. Nowak found either by re-examining me, this was within weeks of the VSP exam, that's another issue, but an important one: not only does his lab make accurate glasses, and he checks them to be sure they are, but Dr. Nowak seems to prescribe something that looks much sharper than what I'd have had even if the VSP lab HAD followed the prescription made by the other office.
So he's more accurate to begin with, then makes sure his lab gets your glasses right.


I wish we never got insurance because the Nowak office was so good, I wish I'd never switched. Because of a long distance move andthe issues around settling in a new area, I'm still wearing the glasses made now 4 yrs ago by Dr. Nowak; the other two newer VSP pair have been sitting in a drawer because they bother me so much ( I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that I can find a good local provider and wish I had the wherewithal to return to New England just to pay Dr. Nowak a visit for my exam and lenses!)

Also Dr. Nowak insists on prescribing a better quality lens which I didn't realize was so important; take his word for it! Now, wearing the glasses he made over 4 years ago, the local provider told me the three yr old VSP pair made had yellowed, were loosing a coating and were junk. Dr. Nowaks looked fine to them., even though they're much older, had been worn longer, and now have been resurrected for an additional year of wear!

Obviously, I'd say go w/ Dr. Nowak w/out question and save yourself the aggravation i experienced by changing. And go w/ what he says for lenses. No matter how far it is from you, you'll be glad you went. Vision is too important. He's a really nice guy, but a superb professional


Contacts too: he recommended a specific design in terms of eye health. I had no idea. He's just very knowledgeable about the many aspects of his profession. He also carefully checks patients to determine the correct wear period, he actually assessed the amount of "crud" or whatever our family member had over the days wearing contacts for the first time to determine the correct schedule of wear.

I can't say enough about this eye doctor and his friendly helpful office manager, you'll be very happy if you use them for your eye care services. I'm wearing glasses 4 yrs old, just hoping the new ones are finally as good as what he made.
