After having a great deal of difficulty finding a participating dentist, we called a Dr. Roane in Falmouth Ma.


We we made it clear that we were Delta Dental subscribers and that we simply needed a cleaning. We had been utilizing your insurance for years in Virginia with a dentist who was familiar with the federal program and understood that this routine cleaning was always a fully covered expense.


At no time did this dental office make us aware that they were NOT a participating provider under the definition that Delta Dental provides. They never made any statement as to what programs they did fully provide services without charge to the patient.

As such, they were clearly not interested in making us aware of their practices vis a vis Delta Dental so as to make us able to make an informed decision.

Hygienist was terrible - hardly made any difference. Neither form nor dentist asked about my medications. Still had spittoon, while everyone else has had a suction device for a decade. Dentist commented to hygienist with notes that he didn't explain to me, such as dry mouth, numbers for each tooth (which I presume were size of gum recession). Dentist failed to look at the records & x-rays that I had forwarded beforehand. I was there to consult for 2 crowns - big bucks- but he didn't discuss them. Also seemed shocked when I asked him the fee; had the office manager give it to me. The office was 1980's shabby design, akin to an old DMV office. Where the waiting room should be, there was a knee-high fence to break up the space, but waiting room was in a small office instead. The building was a dump; old, stained carpet, waiting area on the floor with mis-matched hard kitchen-style chairs.
