I left my first visit with some hope. After that, complete waste of time and resources. She asked me to complete an online test involving being the partner of a sex addict. I told her numerous times that I did not have/never had a partner who was a sex addict. She instructed me to complete the questionnaire anyway. The questions were so irrelevant to my situation (I am the victim of childhood sexual abuse/incest) and could not be answered. It kept asking me specific things like what were the legal ramifications of the confirmation of my partners sexual addiction? All I could type was "N/A." She spent the next two entire sessions reviewing the test results with me. I kept explaining that none of this resonates with me, and she would basically nod. Caroline is nice enough, but I don't feel like she listened to me. She clearly relies on a software that she spent money on that not every patient can form fit to. I only had 6 approved sessions with her. She knows I a, moving out of town soon, and so I got the impression that she didn't have to work much with me because I would be leaving soon anyway. The last straw is I reached out two weeks ago to schedule another visit and have heard nothing back. Really irresponsible to leave someone hanging who is in emotional distress.
The waiting room here is spacious. I never feel like I have to sit too close to someone or that it is overcrowded. This provider has helpful information available online, which is really convenient. They have a good website and online presence. They went out of their way to make me feel special and respected, and were very sympathetic to my situation. I've never seen more kindness and empathy anywhere else.
My husband and I where having a lot of trouble and were finally taking the step to talk to a councilor. As many know, this is a very hard step to take. Caroline was preferred to us through our insurance (along with many others). We though Caroline looked like our best fit. I called and left a voice mail. Never heard back from her. Then I though "maybe my voice mail wasn't clear" so I emailed her a week later. That was three days ago and still have not heard anything. My husband and I really need to talk to someone and are going with a counselor that will respond.
