I am very surprised to see a good rating on this practice. I've been using them since 2003 and I always felt that the service was not good but I had no option. They have never greet me by name so I am surprised to see comments like that.
I just had a experience that broke the camel's back so I am decided to look for a better experience. I have several horror stories to share:
a) After I started taking a new medicine I started seeing blood on my stool; he recommended a colonoscopy. I mentioned to him that I started having that issue as part of the new medicine, he disregarded that; he was non-chalant when he told me that I should be ok since the chances for cancer were low for my age (Why did he had to mention the C-word??????). Well... in preparation for the colonoscopy I had to stop medication 4 days before the procedure... 2 days after I stopped medication the blood was not present anymore... Needless to say that he never followed up on this.

b) I made the mistake to take my son for a check up; my son had experienced pain on his knee (very seldomly and none in the last 3 months); Dr. Huey asked for X-Ray and MRI. They called me two weeks later telling me that the MRI was negative and Dr. Huey recommended therapy (there was no pain, so I don't understand why therapy was a good idea). I asked for the results of the X-Rays, what the lady told me was that she had not heard back from the X-Ray but since the MRI was negative then therapy was the next step..... I had to explain to her that my hope is that there was a valid reason for them to ask for an X-Ray; that there was a chance that an X-Ray would show something that the MRI could not see. She told me that she was going to check on the X-Ray and let me know.... it's been 6 weeks since the call and I have not heard back from them.
The final strike came with a very simple request... I need to transfer my prescription to a mail order so I needed a new copy of my prescription. I've made 8 calls to their office to just ask for a copy (I don't need them to send it to me via email, or fax or snail mail, I will be happy to stop by, waste 30 minutes of my time and get it in the morning)....I got a call back while I was on a plane so I could not take the call, when I called back the voice mail was full so I could not leave a message; I've called twice this week and I still can't talk to a real person or get a call back.
They SUCK!!!!
I know that the standard is to have patients waiting on the waiting/exam room for at least 30 minutes, I've been to a practice where the practitioner's sheet has a copy of when you signed up; so she/he knows how long you've been waiting. In one occasion I had to wait for almost one hour (in one of those after-hours/weekends places) and he apologized for having me wait that long. That was great!! It wasn't his fault that I had to wait, but he made me feel good!.
Anyway, good luck with Mr Huey, I'm sure he is well intentioned but don't expect a quality service.
