Got conflicting information from Dr Pinkston and her office manager. Was shamed by the office manager for getting a second opinion. I did so because I was prescribed medications that I do not need. One of the prescriptions would in fact cause side effects that I would have to deal with for the rest of my life and would have made me a lifelong patient to a cardiologist friend of hers that she was quick to refer me to. I needed a referral to a psychiatrist to continue taking the medication I have been on, since her office manager states that Dr Pinkston does not prescribe anxiety medication. It is a complete contradiction to the signs posted in the exam rooms regarding required drug testing when Dr Pinkston prescribes anxiety medication. This after spending money on a treatment for anxiety made by her friend and not covered by my insurance. The treatment was expensive and did not work. She used that as an excuse to refer me to another friend of hers, the cardiologist. She wanted $350 for hormone treatment, again another treatment not covered by my insurance, and gave me no other options. This Dr has 2 sanctions against her.

They barely gave me any information at all. I'm going to have to do my own research to get my questions answered. Their office was nice and quiet. I was worried it would be overly loud but it was fine. If I couldn't find anyone better, I'd return again, but I'm hoping I can find better service somewhere else. I wish they gave me good advice, but most of the time they only give me advice that would benefit them. The staff was friendly enough, but I expected more of a warm welcome from a family practice.

I have gone to Pinkston's office multiple times within the past 2 years and there have been ongoing problems with the staff during this time. I have always tried to give the benefit of the doubt to the staff because most of them are students/just learning. However, recently, Dr. Pinkston herself has made multiple accidents regarding writing prescriptions for patients. Just in the last week, she refilled my prescriptions (the same ones that she originally placed me on) and changed the dosages without notice, when I realized that they were incorrect, her nurse even said that it shouldn't have been changed, but the Dr had done so, this resulted in my paying extra money out of pocket in order to cover the extra medicine that had to be called in on top of the original incorrect prescription (this has happened twice). I was also billed incorrectly and told that I had a deductible for office visits because "most people with United Healthcare have a deductible"; however, I do not have a deductible at all, and instead of contacting my insurance, the office staff just assumed that my plan was the same as everyone else's and charged me full price. I certainly DO NOT recommend Dr Pinkston to anyone that has serious medical conditions or does not want to wait in a NON-HEATED waiting room for at least an hour to see the doctor. My family and I are switching to another provider that will hopefully be more attentive to the needs of their patients.
