I, too am not a patient of Dr Lawless - Jeanine Kline is my good friend. I too am appaled at the treatment Jeanine received during her visit - for the same reasons listed in Holly Rennie's review.

This experience is inexcusable. Understanding the horror Jeanine has been going through, you would think a person in the medical profession would have a heightened understanding and empathy. Instead, his approach was cold and uninformed.

One would reason that in the hour and a half that Jeanine was waiting that the doctor would at least have glanced at her chart prior to entering the room. He would have at least have known who is patient was - I do not feel this is too much to ask.

Inexcusable and unacceptable.

While I am not a patient of Dr Lawless my sister Jeanine Kline unfortunately is and I must share on her behalf the horrendous and deplorable situation my sister was exposed to on Tuesday, September 20th. My sister made a simple appointment to have FMLA paperwork completed by her primary care doctor Dr Lawless who she has been seeing for 10 years.

The reason for this paperwork, is that my sister lost her 16 year old daughter on August 22nd. Her daughter was hit by a car and killed. Anyone reading this can only imagine the pain and anguish my sister has felt over the past month. One would expect that her doctor, would meet her with compassion, understanding and sensitivity. Instead my sister was made to wait for an hour and a half - unbelievable!

When my sister finally was seen by Dr Lawless he had a "doctor in training" trailing along with him. The Dr had a file in front of him indicating that the purpose of the visit - common decency would dictate that the doctor visit with my sister privately. But no sensitivity here- no bed side manner here.

This incredible lack of sensitivity and compassion was further demonstrated when Dr Lawless shares with my grieving sister -"I am sorry to hear about the death of your step daughter". This said by a doctor who has seen my sister for 10 years and has a file in front of him with all of the details.

When my sister explained that she was the mother of Carleigh Jones who passed- the doctor, instead of apologizing for his rude and insensitive comment replied "Oh, I thought Rea Jones is Carleigh's mom." Are you kidding me? Where is this Doctor's bedside manner gone? My sister just got finished telling him she was Carleigh's mother and he has her paperwork in front of him.

As if this is not enough - Doctor Lawless badgers my sister with comments and snide remarks throughout the conversation leading up to him finally completing the paperwork. He challenged my sister's need to have one specific day off a week; he felt the need to defend St Mary's hospital where Carleigh died, to telling my sister she "looks fine" so why does she need time off from work - all this to a woman who just buried her only child - the center of her life.

This man should not be allowed to practice medicine. He certainly should not be training future doctors as he does not demonstrate proper treatment and care for his own patients.

My sister is tormented every day with reminders of her daughter's death that cannot be avoided. But this torment could have been avoided if this doctor had just done what any compassionate human being would do - let alone a man who is in the profession to care for people and make them feel better.

I am a new patient and have only had two visits so far. I did not wait long and the care I received on both occasions was thorough, compassionate and better than I had hoped. I am a migraine sufferer, and instead of just prescribing meds after a cursory exam, Dr. Lawless looked at my medical history, discussed all my options, zeroed in on the cause (muscle spasms in my upper back) and proceeded to do an adjustment and deep muscle therapy that resulted in faster relief - something 2 days of taking extra-strength ibuprofen had not been able to achieve. I am very happy and would highly recommend Dr. Lawless.
