Dr. Shahinian is a breath of fresh air! We were so lucky that he happened to be working on March 9th. My nearly 90 year old Mom was admitted to Saddleback Memorial Hospital. Mom was in pretty bad shape, but Dr. S walked me through all the options and I felt that he was really invested in her. I either saw him during rounds, or we spoke on the phone daily regarding her situation. She was in the hospital for 10 days and I am certain that Mom recovered as well as she did because of his guidance and out of the box thinking. He is one smart guy!!

Fast forward to mid April, she is back in the hospital, I reached out to Dr. S to fill him in on Mom’s condition and to let him know she would be coming into the ER and there he was, continuing care and helping to get her stable and back home, this time she was only in the hospital for 6 days.

He has listened to everything I have said, given reasons why some of the things I ask make sense and some don’t. Last week Mom wasn’t feeling her best, I called Dr. S and he suggested another trip to the ER. It made the most sense, the fastest way to get her on meds she needed. This time, the ambulance was diverted (without my knowledge) to Mission, which totally freaked me out since we only know Saddleback and I didn’t know at the time that Dr. S has privileges at Mission. Dr. S was expecting to see Mom at Saddleback and when he didn’t, he called to find out what was going on. I filled him and we discussed a plan for Mom’s continued care.

It is possible that Mom may wind up back in the hospital one day, but I know she’ll be in good hands with Dr. Shahinian. We are so grateful that he didn’t give up on her just because of her age.

My husband is going to be making an appointment to see him for pulmonology.
I know he’ll be in excellent hands.

Run away! Dr. Shahinian was really bad and his staff was rude without an ounce of empathy. I'm filing an official complaint against Dr. George Shahinian through my insurance company for the following reasons:

Failed to diagnose me correctly and prescribed a treatment that was unsuccessful. After he collected my money he did not try to remedy the my situation...was slow to respond and apathetic to my concerns...and refused to take any responsibility.

Dr. Shahinian did not see me in person and he requested a remote virtual meeting, which maybe lasted 7 minutes at best. He was abrupt and robotic. It felt like he was in a rush to herd me through the consultation process so that perhaps he could justify charging me and still get the highest quantity of patients seen.

Dr. Shahinian's office manager was even more rude and abrasive. She spoke down to me in a condescending voice during the process of setting up my sleep study and did not offer empathy for my condition in any way. I've seriously received better service at the Dept. of Motor Vehicles.

After I called Dr. Shahinian's office to voice my concerns about the unsuccessful treatment, I also asked about the possibility of a partial credit in payment because I felt the doctor shared the blame. I offered to pay 50% and split the difference but his office manager scoffed at my request and threatened to put any unpaid invoice directly into collections to damage my credit score.

I've never experienced such poor treatment and unprofessionalism from a doctor and office. Unfortunately, I guess there's a first time for everything. At the very least I would like to warn future prospective patients so this doesn't happen to anyone else.

I haave been a patient of this doctor for about five years .I was referred to him through another doctor to asess me for sleep apnea. As it turned out, while not obese, I did suffer from this and it was affecting my health.
I have alway found Dr. Shahainian, and Dr. Esplelita, very caring and concerned doctors who take an interest in their patients, do an outstanding job, and keep their patients well and teach them about interesting points about medicine at the same time. Even their Office Manager, Dorie , is the one to go to when there is any issue. She can straighten out any medical insurance issue and makes it look very easy.

Their staff was not friendly at all, I didn't feel welcome there. They always devote their full attention to me during my appointments. They weren't very understanding or caring, and they didn't show empathy for my situation. I could tell I wasn't their primary concern. Front office staffs are rude and no professionalism .
