I would NOT recommend this medical group. The majority of their health care givers are NOT physicians. They are Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners. As a result, they have a tendency to send you to a specialist if you have more than a cold. For example, I had a simple blood test called a C-Reactive Protein HS (CRP) which tests for inflammation. Mine was elevated, and the immediate response from the PA was that my heart was in serious trouble. She immediately did an EKG and sent me to a very pricey cardiologist.

The cardiologist took my family history and asked me why I was there. I explained that my doctor's office sent me there stating that I had a serious heart problem because of an elevated CRP. He asked if I had chest pains, shortness of breath, trouble lifting 20 pounds, climbing stairs, etc. The answer is no, no, no, & no. So he asked again why I was there. I again explained that my doctor thought I was in danger b/c of the elevated CRP. He said an elevated CRP without any symptoms IS NOT indicative of a heart condition, and then asked me about my gums. As it turns out, I had an abscessed tooth (which the PA at Cunningham’s office also knew about). He said gum infections are the #1 cause of an elevated CRP w/o cardiac symptoms and my physician should have known better.

Another time I went there for a very bad cold and was sent to a pulmonologist or lung specialist because I was wheezing. They told me that I had decreased lung capacity and was probably suffering from a lung disorder. I didn't go to the specialist that time. I waited out the cold for a few days and the wheezing went away. (I knew it would). I consider the PA’s and NP’s at Dr. Cunningham’s office to be alarmists and would definitely NOT recommend them to anyone. Find a real doctor who knows what they are talking about and one who is willing to treat you without calling in a specialist.

Great family doctor. Experienced, concerned and professional. Trust is the most important thing when choosing a family physician. I trust Dr. Cunningham to care for my two sons and myself. I have never had a better family physician.
