Dr. Minton treated my dad who was having difficulty with breathing and was experiencing fatigue. Dr. Minton noticed that he had a couple of anurysms and they were measured and the dr stated that we would keep an eye on their size. He insisted that my dads issues that he was having was related to his COPD and could also be a stomach.intestinal issue. Things progressively got worse and then went into the hospital were other doctors were stating that he could be in heart failure. I called Dr. Minton and he called me back; when I told him what was going on he stated, "Your dad is NOT in heart failure"- I feel certain that it is a pulmonary issue. We later decided to go on to another cardiologist who in fact stated that he felt my dad was in heart failure but things were a little confusing and wanted him to go to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN; so that is what we did. Our visit there gave the worst possible diagnonis; that of "Restrictive Cardiomyopathy".. this diagnosis was devastating..My dad needed not only a heart transplant but a lung transplant as well. Had Dr. Minton followed through more closely and referred my dad on to other cardiologists or testing--my dad could have gone through and gotten a heart transplant but that is not what happened and it is because Dr. Minton who was the first cardiologist that treated my dad for over a year basically cost my dad any chance of getting a heart transplant because now his health has deteriorated so bad that he is not a candidate for a heart transplant. If you have a loved one, friend, family member and you are looking for a cardiologist-do your research and pick one that will not discount your symptoms and pass them on to another specialist. Just because you might think your dr is "nice" or "conversational" with you doesnt mean anything!! My dad went from playing golf five days a week to not being able to walk to the mailbox without exertion! This all happened under Dr. Mintons care-he was the first initial contact cardiologist in this devastating outcome.. I would not recommend him to anyone!!!!
