NEGATIVES on Patient Consideration AND Performance

I’d made an appt. with Dr. Novatt for Juvederm filler injections. After a 55 min. wait they requested I return another day as the doctor suddenly needed to see another patient. It’s hard to imagine a sudden dermatological emergency pre-empting an appointment for which I’d waited an hour, but I was cordial and re-scheduled.

When I returned the following week and asked Dr. Novatt to fill in areas under my eyes, he recommended Juvederm. Unfortunately, his aim was off and the areas are now asymmetrical (my eye area was symmetrical). Additionally, he created a raised diagonal line below the intra-orbital area on 1 side.

I hoped it might improve over time but it didn’t so I made a third appt at which I pointed out the filler’s diagonal seam; the nurse agreed it was plainly visible. She was dismayed and asked if I’d massaged the area to even it out following the injection (that had never been recommended to me).

When Dr. Novatt finally appeared after yet another lengthy wait, he too observed the error but refused to rectify it unless I was willing to pay for additional Juvederm. His explanation: Juvederm is an expensive material. I Ieft. This lack of patient consideration and refusal to accept responsiblity for a botched job is inexcusable.

Dr. Novatt understood my problems when my previous dermatologist could not help me at all. My problems were very unusual but they were not above the capabilities of Dr Novatt. He meet the challenges presented to him, and fixed the issues I had with my skin, thus improving the quality of my life tremendously.

I am so grateful that he is practicing in Santa Barbara and that I found him. He cares about his patients. You couldn't choose a better doctor. He is in high demand but fully worth the wait to get in to see him.
