He was singular. What I had wasn't obvious and he was the only doctor who ever took my partial seizures seriously. Over the course of several decades, I still thank him for keeping up with the literature, being direct, and encouragig me not to give up. Eventually, after moving away, other doctors agreed with him and surgery followed. All for the better. Any doctor can be nice (he happens to be, yes), but few keep up with the technical literature and take time to "think" or admit when they aren't sure. He would treat my comments and doubts with respect, not just draw a blank, smile and say "Yes, I understand". If he understood, he did! This was Steven Foster when I lived in Davis. I assume he's stil the same. Since leaving the valley, I still haven't yet found an available internist/GP who measures up to his professional qualities, and I figure I'll find one eventually.
