I actually thought the comment about doctor was fake, but after what happen today changes everything. It hard to talk to him because he's really old and can't really heard. He's not going to be doing delivery because he's too old. I guess his old age just make him hard to communicate and it doesn't feel comfort going there. He doesn't answer question and leave me wondering because it really hard to communicate with him. I ask to see my delivery doctor since Dr. small couldn't do my delivery and he simply tell me to get my care somewhere else just because I ask to see and know my delivery doctor going to be. I went in today to find my baby gender which he schedule at his clinic. It was a sonogram he did and the machine was really old and the image was bad that he took. I ask to find my baby gender and he rudely say to me, "the kid not cooperating, guess you've to wait until labor." I pay for the service and he can't even provide me good service. Meeting Dr.Small appointment are quick and he doesn't talk much which doesn't feel the worth of the visit. I thought I could give him a try, but today was bad and my spouse doesn't like his service. Nurse are nice, really nice and comforting but the doctor service is bad.

RACIST:

Dr. Robert Small is the racist obstetrician who says he is "disgusted"
by the "breeding rate" of Hmong people and says, "the Hmong breed like
flies" in Fadiman's journalistic book, The Spirit Catches You and You
Fall Down. (see google book excerpt with quote from Dr. Small:
http://tinyurl.com/85qnm8k)

INCOMPETENT:

I went to his office at 8 weeks and saw his nurse (doctor wasn't in),
who only gave me pamphlets, some "advice," and told me to go get
bloodwork done elsewhere.

She said no heartbeat can be picked up with any device until after 12
weeks, and I asked about the ultrasound that a friend got at 6 weeks
that detected a heartbeat, and the nurse said, "I have been doing this
for a long time, and I have never heard of such a thing," in a
condescending manner. In fact, information about detecting heartbeat
as early as 5.5-6 weeks is available on many websites such as:
http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/earlyfetaldevelopment.htm

The nurse's advice: she said deli lunch meat was safe as long as it
"hadn't been sitting around," and that all shellfish was bad and other
fish was okay, without specifying the problem with listeria, nitrates,
or what fish were high or low in mercury levels.

All in all, the nurse was condescending despite her inaccurate
information, and I would never have gone to the office in the first
place if I'd remembered that this was the same racist doctor in
Fadiman's book. Unless you like racism and incompetent medical care,
avoid this office at all costs.
