I was drugged by this man for the better part of 15 years. Benzos, mood stabilizers, antidepressants, neuroleptics (antipsychotics) at high doses. I am now struggling to survive both financially and physically. I hope no one else has to endure what I have been through. Please stay away from this doctor. Wolf in sheep's clothing.

I have seen Dr. Thuma since mid 2000 after a very traumatic attack by a gang member in broad daylight. I understand that the world simply can not possibly all reach a identical conclusion about any form of medical treatment regardless of the providers specialty. This said I would without question feel very confident in recommending Dr. Thuma if you or a loved one actually have a need for a compassionate and caring psychiatrist. He is a rare professional that truly listened to what I had to share. It is highly normal for him to recall even small details from throughout the 15 years I've been working with him. I have received medications from him but always monitored closely and adjustments are promptly made when or if signs or symptoms rise to indicate issue.Ignorance can be very destructive. It is a fact that any person of any age who desires to gain easy access to drug for abuse, rarely chose to pay for, spend regular time talking with, and forcing themselves to conform to a issues which would give any doctor reason to feel medications were in need. Reality is drugs are available everywhere, in every form, in all price ranges and from streets don't require the user to say 2 words to dealer. This is in addition to the lifetime of education doctors work to complete. Dr. Thuma has been a amazing form of guidance and support and I can't imagine using him as the escape goat to issues I'm unable to overcome.

I tried to give him 0 stars but it wouldn't let me. Because of this so called doctor my 20 year old son is addicted to prescription drugs, 6 that I know of. Very strong drugs and they are all to be taken 4 times a day!!! I'm talking very serious strong drugs such as clonopin, Xanax, Effexor, Wellbutrin, subutex, seroquel, for a grand total of 20 pills a day !!!! He went to him for anxiety and depression. Now he's really depressed. Don't even think about letting a loved one or anyone go to this Dr.
You know something is up when he demands to be paid IN CASH and before he will write you anymore prescriptions. He is a drug dealer not a doctor! Beware.....

If you are a junkie with cash, this is your guy. It doesn't take much to get scripts for subs, benzos, ritalin, etc. In fact, he will probably suggest some you haven't heard of.

If you are a loved one of an addict, he is your worst nightmare. First, he preferes to prescribe maximum dosages which will get the addict addicted to the practice. If your loved one asks for more meds, he will prescribe. If the patient has a bad reaction, this guy will probably add some new, more powerful scripts. Anything to keep the patient "happy" so he keeps coming back for more.

I visited Dr. Thuma seeking help coping with some anxiety and insomnia issues I was experiencing. I didn't have a recommendation for him, but he was one of the few psychiatrists covered by my health insurance and he was accepting new patients so I thought I would give him a try. Oh, how I wish I would have done some asking around first. In two visits (lasting maybe 10 to 15 minutes a session), he prescribed me 5 different powerful drugs. When I told him I have reason to suspect I may have a hereditary condition, he actually laughed at me. He said, no I don't think that's your problem. This is within five minutes of meeting him. Yet he immediately felt confident of knowing me and my state of mind well enough to prescribe very strong drugs?

Against my better judgement, I went ahead and tried the first round of drugs. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience and it made things worse which sadly isn't uncommon with these drugs. He wanted to then put me on even more powerful drugs. These are drugs one is supposed to take only for a few days to a week at maximum. He was prescribing them for long term use. When I confronted him about that, he said he had many clients that have been on these "short term" drugs for years under his guidance. That told me everything I needed to know. Since I don't want to live a life under strong and potentially dangerous medication, I made that my last session. I have since shared my experience with other Dr's and health professionals and their jaws dropped when they heard about what he prescribed and the duration he wanted to keep me on them.

Needless to say, Dr. Thuma's bedside manner is not one of listening to his patients, nor does he seek to establish trust and come up with a thorough plan to help you get better. If you are seeking out a Dr. to write a script for whatever drug you ask for, I suspect you will be thrilled with his service. If you are unlucky enough to find your way to his office in a state of stress, looking for real comprehensive help, then I am truly concerned for your safety. I have since found two other past patients of Dr. Thuma and their bad experiences were equally as shocking as mine. Don't make the same mistake I did. I should have done my research and driven further to seek out better care or even paid out of pocket for a closer doctor. Since consulting with other professionals who listened to my original problems, I'm doing much better and without all the strong, dangerous drugs.

Their staff didn't go out of their way to help me. They were only willing to spend the minimum amount of effort to help me. They seemed like they were extremely irritated to be at work, and that they couldn't wait for me to leave. They didn't seem to want to help anyone. In the middle of my consultation, they got up and left me alone for a very long time. I had no idea what they were doing or when they were coming back. I would never recommend them to anyone. They made my situation even worse.
