They were ready to see me when I showed up for my appointment but she appeared to be drowsing off while I was speaking with her. It was a hurtful experience considering the money I have to spend for her care. I haven't dropped her yet, but if it happens again, I am gone.
I didn't feel like the advices she gave me in regards to my daughter was absolutely not in her best interest. She is basically a drug pusher. She doesn't return urgent calls promptly and we feel her advice is very slanted and biased. Not only did they not answer my questions, she barely gave me any information whatsoever. I'm going to have to do my own research to get my questions answered. I am worried about the status of my daugher.
Dr. Hastik is by far the best psychotherapist I have seen. She is attentive, engaged, and is very prompt in addressing key issues and calls. The characterization of what makes a good therapist is obviously subjective, and it's not fair to say one size fits all, but I cannot imagine that most individuals would not feel comfortable with her. She was also recommended by my primary care physician and another therapist.
The office is also immaculate, the waiting area bright and clean, with no shortage of interesting magazines to read while you wait for your next session.
Highly respected psychiatrist and has a strong referral base in SF. Excellent listener, extremely knowledgeable and personable. Agree that parking can be a problem during rush hours.
Recommend Dr. Hastik highly. Great listener, very caring and very accessible. Parking is a bit of a hassle -- if you live in the city, take public transit.
Before you hire the psychiatrist Dr. Karin Leslie Hastik, see the Attorney General's Office of California's final decision and discplinary order brought against her in May 2010 in the matter of the serious Accusation and Charges filed in 2006. On May 19, 2010, the Medical Board of California revoked psychiatrist Karin L. Hastik’s license for: Extreme departure from the Standard of Care, Unprofessional Conduct, Gross Negligence/Repeated Negligence, Prescribing without Prior Examination/Tests/Medical Indication and Inadequate Medical Records." She is on probation for five years with numerous onerous and burdensome terms and conditions. The decision almost went against her regarding Dishonesty charges as well.
In addition, Dr. Hastik was paid the following from her work for big Pharmaceutical companies in 2009 and 2010: 2009 Eli Lilly--$73,900 2010 AstraZeneca--$40,200 GlazoSmithKline--$37,750 Eli Lilly--$16,808 To see the Medical Board's decision: Click on the Final Decision from the Medical Board of California
